Description
Provenance
This enchanting, genuine, vibrant yellow/green Serpentine sculpted and wire wrapped cabochon and earrings come from the Kaiser Mountain Mine near Palm Desert, California. It is California’s State Mineral.
Serpentine minerals form through a process called serpentinization when heat and water alter silicate rock that is part of Earth’s mantle, as well as oceanic plates, and are rich in magnesium and iron. During tectonic collisions, water enters through cracks and interacts with the rock minerals. To further drive the process of serpentinization, when oceanic plates are pushed under continental plates, heat and pressure build, causing these minerals and rocks to be exposed at Earth’s surface. As a result, these ancient Serpentine rock deposits form in mountainous regions.
This cabochon and matching earrings are approximately 3.5 billion years old, and from the Archean eon of Earth’s formation.
Metaphysical
