“Overlooking the Verde River, where beaver dams are still in evidence, one can find in the tertiary aged volcanic ash flows this beautiful Purple Chalcedony. The best material is obtained after an arduous trek through a bamboo forest and cactus cliffs, replete with ineffable scenery. The bamboo forest is the natural dwelling of pig-like Javelina with tusks that are quite formidable. But we never saw one. I will only return to that beautiful area in a helicopter.” Jim Vaĉek
